The Blue Angel for data centers

Data centers are considered drivers of digital processes. At the same time, they consume a considerable amount of electricity. But the sector also offers great potential and solutions for saving emissions.

This has also been recognized by the new government and the Blue Angel is now, according to the coalition agreement, an evaluation criteria for climate-neutral data centers, as they will be mandatory from 2027.

The Blue Angel: Certification of sustainable data centers

Data centers certified under the Blue Angel make a significant contribution to environmental and climate protection by saving energy, while at the same time reducing their operating costs. The seal describes the requirements for a data center to be energy-efficient, resource-saving and thus environmentally compatible. After all, data centers offer immense savings potential in terms of energy consumption.

Overcapacity in the infrastructure of a data center and underutilized servers waste valuable natural resources. The Blue Angel specifies requirements for monitoring the energy supply, air conditioning and IT performance of data center components with the aim of uncovering optimization potential and enabling more efficient operation.

Getting a certification pays off!

Investing in sustainability pays off for data center owners and operators. Each certification starts with a consultation based on the criteria catalog and can reveal potential for energy savings. As a result, the costs can be amortized and the investment pays off in the long run.

Data center operators also have the opportunity to apply for funding for consulting by a certified auditor for energy optimization and certification with the Blue Angel eco-label.

Support

The Blue Angel is awarded according to clear guidelines, which must be proven to be adhered to. If data center operators meet the requirements of the award criteria, the correctness and completeness of the data on which certification is based are checked using defined key performance indicators and documents. We provide you with targeted advice and identify potential savings. You will receive an audit led by our accredited consultants - carried out at planned time and cost. Possible, further energy saving potentials are uncovered and described. Feel free to contact us!

The support program of the Federal Environment Agency subsidizes the consulting of data centers for energy optimization and certification with the Blue Angel eco-label. Our accredited auditors support you with the application, carry out the consulting service, which is subsidized by the Federal Environment Agency. If the application for the Blue Angel is positively reviewed by the Federal Environment Agency, an additional bonus is even paid out. Contact us. We will advise you free of charge.
