The demand for high-performance data centers is growing rapidly. Artificial intelligence, cloud services, and advancing digitalization are making them a central component of modern digital infrastructure. At the Bitkom Data Center Summit 2026 on November 12, 2026, in Berlin, representatives from politics, business, and academia will come together to discuss the future of Germany as a data center hub.
The focus will be on three key areas: sovereignty and competitiveness, energy and system integration, and acceptance and regional value creation. Topics to be addressed include the computing capacities needed for the future, faster approvals and grid connections, competitive framework conditions, and the role of data centers in the energy system. The use of waste heat and greater involvement of local communities and the general public are also on the agenda.
The summit thus offers a central platform for exchanging ideas on concrete solutions and the next steps toward a high-performance, sustainable, and sovereign digital infrastructure in Germany.
