As digitalization develops rapidly, so does the demand for powerful and sustainable data centers. This is precisely the purpose of the new data center in Schwalbach am Taunus. The location impresses with its proximity to the globally significant internet hub DE-CIX and its commitment to sustainability.
From the initial concept phase, the goal was clear: to set new standards with this data center. The focus was on energy efficiency and the thoughtful interaction between technology, the environment, and existing infrastructure. The project has now reached the next important milestone.

From data center design and engineering to implementation

The building permit and approval under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) are in place. These approvals create all the prerequisites to enter the implementation phase. With noris network AG, a strong and experienced partner has been secured. The Data Center Group is carrying out the project as the general contractor. The contract was finalized shortly before Easter. Construction began with the first earthworks directly after the holidays.

Sustainability as a central principle

The data center in Schwalbach represents a new generation of data centers. The goal is to combine high performance with responsible resource use.
A key element is the use of generated waste heat. The heat produced by IT systems and cooling is used for additional applications. This concept is complemented by the use of green electricity and photovoltaic systems on the building's exterior and on the site. The building's wooden and green facades support natural cooling and harmoniously integrate the building into its surroundings.

Powerful and future-proof

A state-of-the-art infrastructure is being created in Schwalbach with a planned IT load of 20 megawatts and an electrical connection capacity of 25 MVA. The targeted PUE value of under 1.2 emphasizes the high level of energy efficiency.
The data center meets DIN EN 50600 requirements for Availability Class 3 and offers customers flexibility and access to major cloud platforms. Numerous national and international carriers ensure reliable connectivity.
The project also considers sustainable mobility: in collaboration with the city of Schwalbach, 12 electric vehicle charging stations are being installed near the site.

Another step towards the future

With the Schwalbach project, DCG is establishing another sustainable data center location in an economically strong region. Schwalbach's location, existing infrastructure, and proximity to central network nodes offer ideal conditions.
With the upcoming start of construction, the next phase of the project begins, which will contribute to a sustainable digital future.
