With over 1000 employees, REWE Systems is the central solution provider for REWE Group when it comes to information and telecommunications systems. REWE Systems plans, designs, develops, configures and operates efficient systems and applications for REWE Group - one of the leading German and European retail and tourism groups with around 330,000 employees.
Against the backdrop of customers' demands becoming higher and consumer trends more fast-moving, the digitalization of processes represents an important factor in keeping pace. IT also represents an essential basis for daily business operations at REWE Group. Security and availability enjoy the highest priority. An IT failure would affect almost all business processes.
In order to achieve the required level of security in the IT area, it is necessary to operate a back-up data center in which all systems, applications and data are available in the same way as the main data center.
Over time, the previous backup data center reached its capacity limits in terms of space and performance. Thoughts about an alternative were necessary. After thorough investigation of different concepts, REWE Systems finally decided to realize a completely new IT location. After the suitable property was determined, the construction of the data center on the greenfield site could begin. The Data Center Group convinced in the tender with the holistic best planning concept and was awarded the contract for the general planning of the building including the technical infrastructure components.

Final expansion: 1,680 kW

REWE Systems, Koblenz
Small, compact outdoor IT data center.
In 2016, REWE-Systems also decided to build a high-availability data center at its Koblenz site to provide greater security for its IT. Data Center Products, product business unit of Data Center Group, erected a turnkey DC IT container at short notice, which was completed within two weeks.
