Frank Ernst, managing director of DC-Datacenter-Group GmbH, is chairman of the professional association building climate e. V., FGK, newly founded working group "Computer Centers"
“Data centers represent around 2 percent of the world's energy demand. This clearly shows that we have to work on efficiency strategies in an interdisciplinary manner", said Ernst after his election. Since a significant part of the energy requirement is used for cooling and air conditioning, while efficiency measures such as waste heat utilization are still not being implemented enough, fourteen FGK members initiated this new working group. It should show ways of increasing efficiency and work out proposals for energy saving regulations. "In Frank Ernst we were able to find a chairman for this important working group who is highly skilled in technical building equipment as well as in the planning and operation of data centers", says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Kaup, chairman of the FGK board.
