Teresa – 2 years of training, 4 departments, many great experiences
Hello, I'm Teresa, and I started my training as an industrial clerk at the Data Center Group in August 2023.
My first assignment was in the marketing department. There, my work revolved around design, research, and our website. I particularly remember shooting videos for our social media channels, as that was what I enjoyed most.
After that, I moved to the purchasing department, where I was given completely different tasks, because during your training as an industrial clerk, you get to know all areas of the company. Here, I focused on everything related to orders, articles, and price comparisons. I was even allowed to order a new coffee machine for our company on my own, although I always received support when I had a question or simply didn't know what to do next.
I then moved on to financial accounting. My main tasks here involved processing incoming invoices. I also had tasks related to reminders and order confirmations.
I am currently in my fourth department, project management. Here, everything revolves around our projects. This also includes finding hotels for our technicians and creating project documentation and project folders. I even got to accompany a colleague to a data center we built. Together, we visited the nexspace data center in Heidelberg Innovation Park (hip). I was given a detailed tour of the building with lots of explanations. This trip definitely gave me a better understanding of our work with data centers.
Now it's almost time for me to return to marketing, and I'm sure that many exciting and varied tasks await me there as well. I'm looking forward to continuing my time at the Data Center Group.
Yours, Teresa
Leif – lots of exciting tasks in his first year of training
Hello,
My name is Leif and I am training here at the Data Center Group to become a technical systems planner specializing in electrical engineering.
I have been an apprentice at DCG for several months now and have already gained a lot of new experience. Working with CAD (computer-aided design) programs such as AutoCAD and Revit has had a particular impact on my everyday life. At vocational school, I learn the theoretical and practical basics that I can apply directly in the workplace, which makes the learning process very exciting.
My highlight here is the good working atmosphere. Not only my colleagues, but also the experienced trainees are always approachable and helpful. I regularly receive tips, and the more experienced trainees often help me with questions or problems. Despite having many meetings, my trainer always takes the time to explain topics in detail, which has made it much easier for me to get started. I have been at DCG for 3.5 months now, but after the first month I already had the feeling that I was in the right place.
Yours, Leif
Carolin - Quick integration and lots of exciting tasks
Hey, I'm Caro and I'm now in my first year of training as an industrial clerk at the Data Center Group. Now that some time has passed, I'd like to tell you about my time here and my tasks, because they've been really great. After getting to know the other new trainees, we were given a short tour of our new workplaces, shown everything, and taken to our departments.
My first stop was the purchasing department. Everyone there gave me a warm welcome, and I quickly felt comfortable and settled in. I was also shown and explained everything right away, so I immediately had my own task that I could work on independently. After a few weeks, I was surprised at how quickly I was integrated and how varied the training is. I was already allowed to check order confirmations, create orders and inquiries, make price comparisons, and also participate in meetings.
Of course, the training also includes vocational school, which I attend every Tuesday and Wednesday. Among the numerous fields of study, I am learning about the work and background of the office world. I am already looking forward to the next experiences and memories I will gather here.
Yours, Caro
Louisa – Marketing as the starting point for a varied training program
Hello, my name is Louisa and I am in my first year of training as an industrial clerk at the Data Center Group. The first few months are now over and I would like to tell you a little bit about my start here. After getting to know my new colleagues and being given a tour of the office, we were assigned to our first departments.
I was initially assigned to the marketing department. They made it very easy for me to get started and I had the opportunity to quickly get involved. Everything was explained to me in detail and I was quickly able to take on my own tasks. With a little practice, I quickly got to grips with various graphics programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere. I quickly realized how diverse and varied the training here is. In addition to preparing events and helping with website design, I was also able to try my hand at video editing and edit one of our social media videos.
A few weeks ago, I also got our trainee car for a week, which is really cool. Twice a week, I go to vocational school, where I learn the basics of office work. Recently, I had my first department change to purchasing, and I'm excited to see what else awaits me.
Yours, Louisa
