Further milestone for the Hofheim data center

Hofheim, 01.07.2025 – Preparations for the data center project of Süwag and its partners at the substation in Hofheim-Marxheim have been in progress for some time now. Now it has reached another milestone: the aquisition of building rights has been completed and building permission is expected to be granted by autumn 2025 so that construction work can start. A legally binding development plan has been in effect since December 2024, permitting the construction and operation of a data center. The first phase of the data center is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2027.

“In recent months, things have seemed quiet around our data center - but a lot has actually happened," says Dr. Sebastian Lührs, Board member of Süwag Energie AG, "Together with the Data Center Group as the planning company, we have used the time to realign and drive the project forward. With Prime Data Centers, we have found a new and strong partner with extensive expertise in the data center environment."

The partners have already founded a Hofheim-based company called DCH GmbH, which will build the data center and subsequently operate and lease it. The Data Center Group provides planning services for DCH GmbH and supports further project development.

“We greatly value the collaboration we’ve had as the appointed planning firm and are pleased to have been able to support this project thus far. This development will also create important, sustainable, and future-oriented computing capacities for the Rhine-Main region,” said Ralf Siefen, Chairman of the Management Board at DCG.

The partners have also refined the business model: the project is now geared toward a select group of major clients. “This significantly increases our planning certainty,” said Lührs.

“The data center project in Hofheim-Marxheim marks an important milestone in our company’s growth strategy. We look forward to working with Süwag Energie AG and the Data Center Group as planners to advance this state-of-the-art facility. We are confident that, with our combined expertise, we can build a world-class data center that meets the evolving needs of our clients and drives business growth. We will continue executing our expansion strategy and position Prime Data Centers as a leading provider of data center solutions,” added Nicholas Laag, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Data Centers.
