DCG strengthens market position with strategic investment in GePlan
News | 11.04.2025

The Data Center Group (DCG) has acquired 75% of the shares in the planning company GePlan Ingenieure GmbH & Co.KG (GePlan). This partnership marks a further milestone in DCG's growth strategy. Through this cooperation, both DCG and GePlan are significantly strengthening their planning services for sustainable and future-proof data centers and are jointly positioning themselves at a strategically important location in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Expansion of market position through strategic investment

DCG and GePlan have agreed a strategic investment in order to expand their market position and their planning and implementation expertise. This reflects the long-standing partnership between the two companies and underlines their common goal of creating innovative, sustainable and future-oriented data centers.
Increasing digitalization and the introduction of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud services are significantly increasing the demands on data centers. Both companies are meeting these challenges by specifically strengthening their teams and expanding their expertise.
With this strategic investment, around 28 experienced employees of the engineering firm GePlan - led by managing partner Sebastian Stegmann - will strengthen the DCG team and thus increase its strategically important presence in the growth market of North Rhine-Westphalia. The location in Hennef, near Cologne, offers ideal regional proximity to other projects in NRW and promotes cooperation with existing and future customers.

GePlan is an established TBE planning office with comprehensive expertise in the planning and implementation of complex data center projects. Since its foundation in 2004, the company has specialized in the development of tailor-made solutions, particularly in the data center sector. GePlan always pursues high standards of quality and sustainability. With innovative ideas and a dedicated team of experts, GePlan has earned an excellent reputation in the industry.

Sebastian Stegmann will remain as managing partner in GePlan's management and Günther Huth will continue to be available to GePlan and DCG in an advisory capacity. Both companies plan to work closely together on future joint projects, but will also maintain their independent market activities. This arrangement ensures continuity and at the same time utilizes synergies and resources of both companies.
Ralf Siefen, founder and CEO of DCG, comments on the investment: “The addition of GePlan Ingenieure to the DCG family is a strategic and forward-looking step. Mutual trust forms the basis for this successful collaboration. we will be able to keep pace with our ongoing development in a dynamic market. Together, we will further strengthen our position and offer our customers innovative, sustainable and high-performance data center solutions.”

Strengthening the value chain through focused expansion

The majority stake in GePlan further deepens the expertise of both companies in the area of planning services. This will further expand DCG's value chain, which was recently extended to include project development. The acquisition of the shares in DCP Datacenter Partners GmbH (DCP) in February 2025 strengthens DCG with an additional team. This further service component now covers the entire spectrum from the development to the sustainable operation of data centers.

These investments not only reflect DCG's continuous growth and innovative strength, but are also an important step towards establishing the company as a leading provider of data centers. These meet the increasing demands of digitalization and new technologies. Potential customers and partners can rely on DCG's proven quality and expanded expertise to master the challenges of the future together.
